What is a fanlisting?
A fanlisting is a gathering or listing of people who share a common and specific interest, such as a sitcom, singer, song, etc. In this case, this is a fanlisting to the anime series Romeo x Juliet.

What is Romeo x Juliet?

The anime is loosely based off of William Shakespeare's tragedy of two lovers, which is set in a fanstasy world on floating island of Neo Verona. Reprising their roles are Romeo and Juliet, cruelly pitted against each other at the hand of destiny, as well as a cast from the said and other Shakespearean plays and even William himself. While the series takes many liberties with its adaptation, the underlying tragedy the same.

Fourteen years prior to the setting of the anime, Romeo's father Montague murdered the current Grand Duke and all his family, guards, and supporters in cold blood and seated himself upon the throne of Neo Verona. However, one heir survived, Grand Duke Capulet's then two-year-old daughter Juliet, as well as a small group of loyalists.

Disguising herself as a boy named Odin, Juliet hid from the wrathful and power-hungry Montague. However, in doing so, she learned to be strong and disguised herself as the Crimson Whirlwind to fight against the Carabinieri - Neo Verona's corrupt military police under Montague's rule - in vigilante justice.

But as fate would have it, dressed as a girl, she is accientally wisked away one of the Duke's parties, thrown in celebration of his song's engagement, and there meets Romeo. They fall in love at first sight, again meeting each other in a field of blooming irises.

However, as fate brings them together in a stroke of luck, it cruelly pits them against each other. Upon her 16th birthday, Juliet finds out the truth behind her origins. Soon, she also finds out the nature of Romeo's parentage. A war is on a horizion, a war between two families that can only bring tragedy.

Why a fanlisting for this series?
Quite honestly? Because I first fell in love with its gorgeous art and music. As an anime, Romeo x Juliet is quite a piece of work; its animation is beautiful and smooth, and its sound rich and full. However, I also find the series quite interesting. Even though the focus is on Romeo and Juliet, the side characters are absolutely fasincating as well, and the plot moves at a decent pace. This series is rather refreshing for me, even though it's a classic, and just the novelty of its concept makes me completely fascinated.

What's with "Heavenscent"? That's not even a real word!
I'm quite aware of that thank you. ^^; I chose Heavenscent because I thought it fit very well with the idea of the anime. Undoubtedly, the story revolves around Romeo and Juliet, and their flower that symbolizes their love is the iris, one that is gorgeous and scented. To them, irises are the scent of their heaven, their love and ability to be together.

Heavenscent, however, is also a play on "heaven sent," such that their love story is one for the ages, which I undoubtedly believe it will be.
